Reconstruction, July 2010
The level of the re-layed Wheelers Hill Road curve is what is knon as 'all over the place' prior to jacking and tamping. The old 60lb D rail that has been replaced by the 60lb AS on the curve is loaded up to be taken back to Daylesford for use in the rollingstock shed (Photo: Barry Fell)
In advance of the tamper, the high leg has been jacked to get the top (level) of the track right. Now the low leg is done to to get the correct cant (angle) on the curve. (Photo: Barry Fell)

The holes have been jacked out and the correct cant set, so the tamper can come through and pack the sleepers. (Photo: Barry Fell)
The jacking and tamping is completed and the Wheelers Hill Rd curve now has a nice top and consistant cant. However, there is an awful lot of boxing in to do. (Photo: Barry Fell)

As part of the project, a set of 60lb AS points from Trentham yard has been installed at Daylesford to replace the set of badly worn 60lb D points. (Photo: Barry Fell)

You would hardly know this scene was a barren burnt out landcsape just 12 months ago as the track machines are deep in the now regenerating forest. (Photo: Barry Fell)

As part of the general upgrade of the line, the very worn 60D curve to the Wheelers Hill Rd level crossing has been relaid in 60AS rail purchased from Cathkin when the Mansfield line was pulled up in 1988. (Photo: Barry Fell)

Much of the volunteers day was sorting out dog spikes and sleeper plates. This time comsuming task allows the contractors to do more sleepers and a much better use of the grant money. (Photo: Barry Fell)
