    Brief History Of The Class.

44 of these vans entered service from 1888 to 1893 classified 'DD'. They featured a design that was essentially two 'Z' vans back to back on a bogie underframe. By 1910, a further four vans were added to the class from similar vehicles in joint stock service and all were classified 'C'. In the 1950's, the C vans received major overhauls. They recieved new underframes and the bodies were rebuilt. C vans were often used behind DERM railmotors.
